Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders warns rustlers to desist or be ready for the worst

Date: 2015-08-04

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), says it has concluded all arrangements to ensure that the activities of cattle rustlers in the Northern part of the country is brought to an end. He warned that all and sundry involved in the act should desist before the hand of the law caught up with them.

The National President, MACBAN, Muhammadu Kirowa Ardon Zuru, who gave the warning while speaking with newsmen shortly after an emergency national executive council meeting of the association in Kaduna, said the activities of the cattle rustlers was taking its toll on the North as well as contributing to the insecurity in the region.

He frowned at the activities of the persons which he said had led to all forms of crime and anti-social activities, thereby robbing them of their natural endowment and economic prosperity.

He said that a joint operation to tackle the menace had already commenced with six states collaborating and giving support to the security operatives, who had taken the fight to the rustlers in the forests of Birnin Gwari.

He also said they will support the government to any extent and with any resources at their disposal in order to tackle the menace.

"We will support President Muhammadu Buhari in his quest to tackle insecurity in the Northern part of the country, particularly the current menace of cow rustling that is taking its toll on the people.

"The activities of cow rustlers are also leading to other forms crime and antisocial activities. Besides, it is robbing us of our natural endowment and economic prosperity. That is why we have vowed to tackle this issue of cow rustling.

"So, we have resolved to do all it takes and for as long as it takes to bring an end to this evil trend and we are prepared to support the government all the way.

"Our people voted overwhelmingly for President Buhari not only because he is our brother but because we know that he will work for the people and do justice. We are assured that he will do the right thing.

"So, it is not right for some of our people to be involved in this cow rustling as our President, who is also their brother, will not hesitate to deal decisively with anyone or group perpetuating these acts.

"Even if I, the President of Miyetti Allah, am involved in any evil, the law will catch up with me. Everyone should just know that Nigeria of yesterday is not Nigeria of today because Buhari will not spare any evil doer no matter who the person is or how close he/she is to him", Zuru stated.
