Ahmed tasks Kwarans to tighten belts, make sacrifices

Date: 2015-05-30

GOVERNOR Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has tasked residents of the state to be prepared to tighten their belts, make sacrifices, and moderate their expectations of government in the next four years, just as he was sworn-in for second term in office.
Speaking during the swearing-in in Ilorin on Friday, Governor Ahmed said his administration had faced challenge of continued reduction in federal allocation accruable to the state.
The governor, who said his administration hoped to achieve development goals for the welfare of people by improving Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), added that “We will also plug leakages and reduce the cost of governance to boost our capacity to achieve these objectives.
“By now, most of you know the challenges we face. Our national economy is on its knees. Global oil prices, the mainstay of our economy, are dropping daily, limiting our ability fulfill our obligations,” he said.
