Lobby intensifies as Ahmed sacks commissioners, appointees
Kwara State Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, yesterday, dissolved the state's executive council.
The governor, who was recently re-elected for a second term, announced the dissolution in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold.
Daily Trust learnt that the dissolution of the cabinet has intensified lobby for appointment and reappointment by the sacked office holders and other notable politicians in the state.
Affected by the dissolution were special advisers, senior special assistants, special assistants, liaison officers, and youth employment coordinators.
"Similarly, all boards of government-owned companies, commissions, parastatals and organisations other than those of statutory status, are also dissolved", the statement added.
"The governor directed commissioners to handover government properties in their custody to their permanent secretaries while heads of other MDAs must handover to the most senior officers in their establishments.
The governor thanked "all the affected political office holders for their immeasurable contributions to the success of his administration in the last four years and wishes them success in their future endeavours," it said.
Sources say many of the politicians who worked for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have intensified their lobbying activities, following the cabinet dissolution.
Daily Trust correspondent observed many of the sacked commissioners, other appointees as well as politicians seeking fresh appointment, going to see the state's APC leader, Senator Bukola Saraki, who is widely expected to decide who gets what in the government.
