Violence: Community expresses support for KWSG
Speaking on behalf of the Magajis and the Alanguas during a solidarity visit to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, the spokesman of the association, who is also the Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Salihu Woru Muhammed, said the group condemned the fracas which ensued in parts of Ilorin metropolis between operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency and street urchins.
The fracas led to arson and destruction of vehicles allegedly by the urchins.
Muhammed called for severe punishment for the perpetrators of the violence, while government should initiate strategies that will avert future occurrence.
Responding, Ahmed reiterated that his administration will not tolerate acts of criminality by street urchins, popularly called Good Boys.
Ahmed promised that his administration has set up an enlightenment committee on how to end thuggery, while an empowerment scheme would be instituted for the transformation of the youths to responsible citizens.
The governor added that those with criminal tendencies should realise that the campaigns and elections were over and purposeful governance has taken the centre stage again.
“We will ensure that criminality is not given any room in the state.
If anybody under any guise is found wanting, he will be brought to book,” he assured the community.
