A youth golfer with Rosani Golf and Recreation Centre, Adeyinka Olaniyi, has set his sight on reaching the mark attained by the likes of Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllroy in his golf career.

Olaniyi, a student of Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, said on Wednesday in Lagos, "I have to dream big to become star."

Basking in the euphoria of his recent performance at the Ibadan Ladies Open Invitational, where he came second in the men's event of handicap 15-28, Olaniyi appealled for help in order to realise his dream.

"I have been doing my best at Rosani Club, at the moment sponsorship may hinder my hope of realising my dream.

"Golf is capital intensive and as a student I will surely need huge support to enable me progress in my game. For now I have been discovered by Rosani Club and I have to move on," he said.

However, responding on Olaniyi's appeal, the Coordinator of Rosani Club, Olori Banke Popoola, said, "There are lots of promising young golfers in Rosani and out there, but we need government, individuals and corporate organisations to assist them.

"Golf has to be developed from the grassroots and it will be amazing that people will build a career from it and grow to the level of Tiger Woods and Rory Mcllroy that are now household names," she concluded.
