My pact with Kwara People beyond May 2011 - Governor Saraki
Dr Saraki made the declaration at the weekend while receiving the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari (CFR), who paid him traditional sallah homage at the Government House.
The governor, who disclosed that it is the constitution agreement that ends in May 2011, stated that his own agreement with the people of the state would continue for as long as God gives him the ability to serve them.
His words:"Constitution does not permit me to serve for more than two terms as governor but the constitution does not say that if a leader and his people have a pact, that I cannot continue to serve you with everything i have for the betterment of my people and my dear State".
"I want to assure my good people that it is the constitution agreement that ends in May 2011, my own agreement with you would continue as I would continue to serve you even after departing this office".
He also assured that what his administration had built in the past seven and half years would be sustained for the betterment of the good people of the State.
Governor Saraki, who spoke extensively on the importance of good intention, charged those seeking elective positions in the next political dispensation to have the fear of Almighty Allah and put public interest above their personal interest for the benefit of all.
According to him, when your intention is good, the Almighty Allah will give you the will and the capacity to perform, attributing the success of his administration to good intention right from its commencement in 2003.
He, however enjoined those seeking elective positions in the State to make sincerity of purpose and good intention their watchword.
Saraki, also thanked traditional rulers and the entire people of the State for their prayers and support to his administration since its inception in 2003.
Earlier, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji sulu Gambari had commended the present administration for all its numerous achievements especially in the maintenance of peace and tranquility in the State.
The monarch noted with satisfaction the respect accorded the traditional institution in the State by Dr Saraki’s administration as custodian of culture and tradition.
Alhaji Gambari, who praised the governor for doing his best for the State, disclosed that he has made his mark on the sand of time.
He also thanked the Waziri of Ilorin, Dr Olusola Saraki for giving the State a credible personality, who has transformed the State and prayed God to grant him good health.
