Governor Saraki, Emir of Ilorin, mourn deceased PDP members
The Emir, who was supposed to pay a traditional sallah homage to the governor drove in quietly without the usual funfair because the ceremony had been cancelled as a mark of honour for the souls of the departed party faithful.
Speaking at the condolence visit, Dr Saraki, who said the cancelled sallah homage was to have being the last one to him as a governor, thanked the monarch for his support and continued prayers which he noted had been responsible for the success story of his administration.
He also expressed appreciation to God for the continued peace and stability in the State and thanked the entire kwarans for their support as well since 2003 when his administration came on board.
Saraki attributed the achievements of his administration which brought sporadic development to all parts of the State to the continued prayers and support of the people of the State.
He also prayed God to grant the souls of the deceased Aljanat Fridaouz and their families the fortitude and courage to bear the painful loss.
Earlier, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari had consoled Governor Saraki and urged him to take solace in Almighty Allah, believing that He alone gives life and takes it at will.
The Emir, who is also the Chairman of the State traditional council, thanked the governor for serving the State selflessly and relentlessly which resulted in positive transformation of the State in the past seven years.
He, however, prayed God to give the entire people of the State the fortitude to bear the loss.
The Grand Khadi of the Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Idris Haroon and the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Alhaji Mohammed Bashir had earlier led the congregation in special prayers session for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
