The Chairman of the Kwara state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Iyiola Oyedepo yesterday pleaded with members of the party in the state to give peace a chance.

Oyedepo, who gave this advice at the state Secretariat of the Party in llorin while swearing-in members of the new Executive committee of the Party for llorin West Local Government area described peace and unity as cornerstone to any development. The swearing-in put paid to the factional acrimony that had been witnessed among members of the party in the local government area.

But Oyedepo, who said the new executive council had been endorsed by the national headquarters of the party, urged members to eschew bitterness, acrimony and hatred among themselves for victory of the Party in the 2015 election. He also advised the new council executive members to ensure unity among warring factions of the party in the council, saying with their endorsement they are expected to live above board and ensure indissoluble entity of the Party.

"Provide a platform of unity among Members of the Party in the area without being factional and ensure that the Party is more vibrant in the area", Oyedepo said. In his remark at the event, the Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and chieftain of the party, Professor Shuaib Oba-AbdulRaheem described the new development as a testimony that he controls the party at the grassroots.
