The Head of Service, Kwara State, Alhaji Mohammed Dabarako, has said civil servants in the state will benefit from the Federal Government's housing scheme for civil servants across the country.

He stated that about 2,000 houses had been earmarked for civil servants in the state from the by the Federal Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development.

Speaking in an interview with journalists in Ilorin on Friday, Dabarako also said the state government was exploring other platforms to ensure that more houses were provided for civil servants in the state.

Dabarako stated that the government was encouraging mortgage institutions to build houses in the state, adding that it was willing to provide land for the institutions to build and sell the houses to interested civil servants and other residents of Kwara State.

According to him, there are over 8,000 workers from the main civil service and about 6,500 from the Teaching Service Commission.

The HOS stated that the state government was desirous of ensuring that many civil servants got decent and comfortable accommodation though he noted that the government was still collating data on the housing needs of the civil servants.

Dabarako said, "We are pursuing housing scheme for civil servants in the state from various angles. Last year, I went to Abuja and I discussed with the Federal Ministry of, Lands, Housing and Urban Development on exactly how they can provide houses for civil servants in the states of the federation.

"We got to a stage that Kwara was captured to get 2,000 houses from the Federal Government's housing scheme for civil servants. We have also encouraged the housing corporations to rise up and be looking for those who need housing arrangements
