The Kwara Government on Wednesday warned residents of the state against indiscriminate dumping of refuse.
The state Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Mr Abubakar Mora, gave the warning in an interview in Ilorin. He blamed indiscriminate refuse dumping for the flood recently experienced in parts of the city.
He said that the ministry would do its best to curb the annual flooding in the state.
Mora said government was not happy about the loss of lives and property caused by a recent flood incident at Atikeke area on the Ajase-Ipo road in llorin. He commiserated with the families of the three people who died in the incident.
Mora urged the state Ministry of Works and Transport as well as the Planning and Urban Development Authority to be alive to their responsibilities by providing proper drains on water ways.
