Offa community begs banks to reopen

Date: 2014-01-24

Offa community of Kwara State yesterday begged commercial banks in the state to restore  their services to the community, saying they were tired of going to neighbouring states for transactions.

Commercial banks in Offa closed down following the December 19, 2013, bank robbery where four banks were attacked along the popular bank road at Olofa way.

Since the attack where seven policemen and three civilians were killed based on official figure, economic activities have slowed down in the community, which is the second largest  in Kwara State.

However, in a bid to tackle the security challenges headlong yesterday, the community donated three Hilux vans to security agencies.

Besides, the state government said it has finalized arrangement to construct two more police stations in the town.
