FG Appoints Governing Boards for 42 Agencies

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointments of the chairmen and members of the governing boards of 42 federal government agencies and parastatals.

Prominent among those appointed were the ace actor; Kanayo O. Kanayo, and former governor of Anambra State, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezife.

Other notable appointees included Hon. Cairo Ojougbo; the former Editor-in-Chief of Newswatch magazine, Mr. Ray Ekpu; music icon Bongus Ikwue and Mr. Olusola Akanmode.

The appointments were announced yesterday in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim.

Anyim said the membership of each of the governing board would include all the statutory ex-officio members in accordance with the enabling laws of the parastatals and agencies.

"The dates for the formal inauguration of the governing boards will be announced in due course by the supervising authorities and ministers," he added.

The 42 agencies and parastatals  included the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology with Akanmode as chairman of the board.

The National Information Technology Development Agency has Dr. Tosin Ajayi as its chairman. For the National Mathematical Centre, Senator Abubakar H. Girei is the chairman.

Also, the Universal Basic Education Commission has A. J. Turner as chairman.
Meanwhile, Ezeife will serve as the chairman, governing council of the National Commission for Colleges of Education.

The National Root Crops Research Institute chairman is Chief Oluwole Oludaisi Aina, while at the National Institute for Education Planning and Administration, Mr. Bolaji Anani, will serve as chairman.

The National Institute for Fresh Water Fisheries Research has Alhaji Arma Yau Abubakar as chairman. Other agencies affected are the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria with Alhaji Sulieman Galadima as chairman. The Nigerian Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research has Alhaji Bello Gusau as chairman.

The National Cereals Research Institute has Igwe Ginger Ibeneme as chairman while the National Eye Centre is to be chaired by Prof. C.I.P. Anibeze.

The National Horticultural Research Institute has Juliet Wayoka as chairman while the National Inland Waterways Authority has Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu as chairman with Admiral Mike Onah (rtd) as a member.

The National Animal Production Research Institute, Shika, Zaria, has Hon. Emeka Otozi as Chairman while the Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority chairman is Cairo Ojougbo.

The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism Studies has Kanayo O. Kanayo as chairman.

The National Institute for Nigerian Languages, Aba, Imo state has Dr. Tosin Awolalu as chairman while the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education has Dr. Mrs. Esther Uduehi as chairman.

The Nigerian Film Corporation, Jos, has Chief Bongos Ikwue as chairman and the Nigeria Building and Road Research Institute has Mr. Dele Okeya as chairman.

The National Orientation Agency has Lt. Col Edoh Obi (rtd) as chairman.
The chairman of Sheda Science and Technology Complex is Senator Nuhu Aliyu, DIG (rtd), while the National Commission for Nomadic Education has Mohammed Sallah Shettima as chairman.

Also Nigerian French Language Village, Badagry, Lagos, has Chief Emmanuel Edohoeket as chairman, and the Centre for Black and Africian Arts and Culture has Gen. Brimmo Yusuf, as chairman. Mr. Ray Ekpu, Hon. Paul Godfreymary Ogbonnaia, Mr. Folorunsho Taiwo, Madam Rhoda Fiberesima, Patrick Aiden Anuda, Oyedokun S. Oladepo and Frank Ikpeze are members.

The Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre has Tokunbo Kayode (SAN) as chairman while the National Productivity Centre has Innocent Nyingirefaka as chairman

The National Oil Spill and Detection Response Agency has Major Lancelot Anyanya (rtd) as chairman and the National Environment Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency would be considered by Ishiaku Huzi Mshelia.

Others included the Project Development Institute Mr. Emmanuel Mbaka as chairman while the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission has Alhaji Ibrahim Bio as chairman.

Also, the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) has Alhaji Adamu Atta as chairman while the National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has Alhaji Dr. Garba Nadama as chairman.

The Nigerian Council for Management Development has Emma Aguarivwodo as chairman and the Lake Chad Research Institute has Yakubu Tsala as chairman.

The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has Mr. Felix Chukwu as chairman while the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has Mrs Abisola Clark as chairman.

The Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Corporation has Mrs. Chioma Ohakim as chairman while the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria has Prof. Francis A Fadahunsi as chairman.

The News Agency of Nigeria has Alhaji Ibrahim Buba as chairman, while the Agricultural and Rural Management  Training Institute (ARMTI) has Hon. Goodluck Opia as chairman.
