Dates fixed for distribution of permanent voters card, sacrosanct - INEC
INEC had fixed 15-17 August for the distribution of permanent voter cards and 20-25 August, 2014 for continuous registration exercise in the state.
The INEC Deputy Director Voter Education and Publicity, Barrister Jacob Ayanda disclosed in Ilorin yesterday while speaking to The Herald On Sunday.
He said the exercise which is to hold between 8am and 4pm each day, will take place in all polling units.
He said INEC has put necessary arrangements in place to ensure hitch-fee exercise
Part of the arrangements which INEC has put in place according to him was sensitization programme to all the sixteen local government areas and all senatorial districts.
He said INEC had informed the stakeholders on the need to come out enmass for the exercise, noting that INEC has put necessary logistics in place to ensure hitch-free exercise.
He said people with temporary voter cards will exchange with permanent ones, while those without temporary voter cards will get new card through continuous registration exercise.
He explained that INEC has also made a provision for those who missed their temporary voter cards or defaced to get another one.
“We will give them a form to fill and attach a passport to it through which we will process new card for them”, he said.
He said whoever that could not find his or her name in the distribution of permanent voter cards for one reason or the other, can obtain a new card during the continuous registration exercise.
He said those whose names are included in the permanent voter cards but fail to obtain it with the fix date, can later collect it at INEC office at local government headquarters after the exercise.
Barrister Ayanda urged Kwarans to come out enmass for the exercise in view of its importance.
