Court remands 2 brothers for assaulting policewoman
An Ilorin Magistrate Court yesterday remanded two brothers, Akeem Adisa, 32, Ganiyu Adisa, 28, of Airport area, Ilorin for allegedly assaulting a police woman.
The prosecutor, Inspector Nasiru Yusuf informed the court that the accused beat up the victim, tore her uniform while she was trying to put them in order at voters’ registration centre at the Airport area.
He said that the victim sustained injuries on her left thigh and arms and in the process she lost her handset and wrist watch valued N19, 500.
The accused however pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
The prosecutor said that the accused were arraigned on a three-count charge of obstruction of public servant, conspiracy and causing grievous hurt contrary to Section 147, 97 and 247 of the Penal Code Law.
He objected to the bail of the accused on ground that the alleged offences were not ordinarily bailable.
Magistrate Ibrahim Mohammed remanded the accused in police custody and adjourned the case to Thursday 19, September 2014 for mention.
