I'll Honour EFCC's Invitation After Umrah - Saraki
Former Kwara State Governor Bukola Saraki has said that he will honour the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) upon his arrival from Saudi Arabia where he is performing Umrah (Lesser Hajj).
Saraki disclosed this in a statement made available in Abuja yesterday by his media office.
LEADERSHIP had exclusively reported on Monday that the ex-governor had been invited by the anti-graft agency to appear before it on Wednesday over his alleged involvement in a fraud-related matter while he was governor between 2003 and 2011 and his role in the Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria (SGBN).
"We confirm the receipt of the invitation from the anti-graft body (EFCC) on behalf of Senator Bukola Saraki who is currently out of the country on a lesser Hajj performing his religious obligations,"the statement from the media office noted.
"However, the Senator will be more than happy upon his return from Saudi Arabi to honour the invitation and assist the EFCC in their finding just as he has done in the year 2011 and 2012 respectively on the same matter".
The statement, however, added that the senator's office only received the EFCC invitation yesterday.
