Appeal Court sacks Olofa

Date: 2013-07-09

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ilorin presided over by Justice HusseinMukhtar on Tuesday ordered the Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, to approve and install Alhaji Abdulrauf Keji from the Olugbense Ruling House as the Olofa of Offa.

The appellate court made the order after setting aside the decision of the High Court of Kwara State sitting in Offa delivered on July 19, 2012 by Justice S.M. Akanbi which upheld the appointment and installation of Alhaji Mufutau Esuwoye from the Anilelerin Ruling House as the Olofa of Offa.

The Appeal Court also nullified the appointment and installation of Esuwoye as the Olofa of Offa and removed him forthwith from the stool of Olofa of Offa.

It also granted an order compelling the kingmakers of Offa who are the first to fourth respondents to accept the nomination of Keji as the Olofa of Offa.
