Pfizer, Kwara organise arts competition to mark Children's Day

Date: 2013-05-22

In commemoration of the 2013 Children's Day, Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company, says it is partnering with the Kwara Government to organise a one day arts competition for children.

Dr Kodjo Soroh, Medical Director, Pfizer Nigeria Plc, made this known in an interview on Tuesday in Lagos.

He said that the competition meant for children below five years would hold on Friday in Ilorin.

The Pfizer chief executive said that no fewer than 11 Nursery and Primary Schools in the state would feature in the competition.

Soroh said that the competition would hold alongside a sensitisation and enlightenment programme on how to prevent Pneumonia and the essence of child vaccination.

He said that the event was being organised as part of his company's contributions to child healthcare in the country.

According to him, the arts competition and enlightenment programme will be used as a channel of reorientation on diseases which Nigerians often misconstrue for spiritual cases.

Soroh said his company had organised a similar event in five other states to celebrate the Day.

He said there would be gifts for the best three participating schools.

Soroh, however, urged all stakeholders to defend and improve the health status of every Nigerian child.

He said that there was urgent need for government at all levels, corporate organisations and individuals to explore partnership strategy for better health needs of every Nigerian child.
