A student from the Flora Basic School in Kwara State, Abdulmueez Yusuf, has emerged the overall winner in mathematics competition organized by the Nigeria Turkish School/National Mathematics Centre in Kano. He emerged winner after scoring 100% in the competition, and was followed by his schoolmate, Temiloluwa Oyebami,  who scored 97.3%. Deborah Bature from Therbow School, Kaduna, who scored 93.8% came 3rd.

The Consul General of Turkey International School in Kano, Dr Muhammad Hassan Koguna, who spoke at the occasion, said mathematics is essential for the development of technology.

The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Barrister Faruk Iya said the government of Kano is considering the possibility of sponsoring students into the Turkish school because of its quality and standard.
