The Kwara State Police Command may have commenced investigations into the murder of immediate past Vice Chairman of the Ilorin State Chapter, Dental Association of Nigeria, Dr. Ariyo Adewunmi.

Adewunmi, the proprietor of Dental Clinic, located along Unity Road, Ilorin, was allegedly murdered in cold blood on Thursday at his Lower Niger Basin Development Authority residence, between the hours of 1:am and 3:am.

The suspected assassins, numbering six and fully armed, were said to have forcefully gained entry into his two storey building, located the victim, dragged him to the upper floor of the house, demanded for his car key and shot him through the temple, leaving him dead before any help could come his way.

The assassins, who later went down the stair to report the death of the dentist to his wife, were alleged to have escaped with the vehicle of the deceased after collecting jewellery from her. The wife, a mother of two daughters and a two- month old baby, was said to be initially dumb founded.

When she recovered, she made a distress call that attracted the neighbours, who called the police. But the assassins had escaped before the arrival of the police.

The Chairman of the state’s chapter of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Mojeed Oderinde, has condemned the development and urged law enforcement agencies to fish out the killers of “the great and intelligent dentist”.
