NSDC Frustrates Suspected Pipeline Vandals in Ilorin
Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has frustrated attempts by suspected NNPC pipeline vandals to siphon petroleum products along Asa Dam Road in Ilorin.
The suspects however ran away to escape arrest by the NSCDC men who mounted surveillance at the area.
The state commandant of the Corps, Yerima Gana, who led journalists to the site where the suspected vandals had dug a big hole preparatory to carrying out the siphoning, said his men recovered some of the tools the suspects were using for their operation.
The tools include diggers, sledge-hammer, pumping equipment, manual drilling equipment, tube gums, electrodes.
Gana, who disclosed that the suspected vandals fled when they learnt that his men were approaching said no arrest has been made in connection with the criminal act.
He said that the Command was still making investigations and assured that the suspects would be apprehended.
Gana, who warned vandals to relocate from the state in their own interest said that the command was determined to safeguard and protect lives and property in the state.
