4 Killed In Kwara, Plateau
Two people were killed in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State by people suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
This was just as two persons were in a communal clash in Ganmo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The chairman of Wase Taroh Community Development Association, Jacob Dashen said that two youths on motorcycle were killed by suspected Fulaniherds men on their way to Kadarko,Wase Local Government Council of Plateau State.
He told LEADERSHIP that the incident was reported to the Special Task Force (STF) on Jos Crisis and they trailed the motorcycle to a Fulani camp.
Another account of the killing stated that the victims were Tarok men who were protesting that nothing had been done to identify and punish those who killed nine Fulani men in January.
In the same vein a Fulani source told LEADERSHIP that the two Tarok men were killed Sunday morning by their fellow Tarok men.
Assistant Secretary of Wase LGA of Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN), Abdullahi Abubakar, narrated this to our correspondent on telephone, yesterday.
He said that “The two Tarok men, we suspect, were killed by their own people following a misunderstanding during a Tarok Day celebration among the Tarok people.
Meanwhile, two persons were said to have been killed in a communal clash that broke out in Ganmo, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, yesterday.
The incidence caused a major traffic jam as Ganmo is located along a federal road that links the state with Osun state.
The cause of the crisis could not be immediately ascertained, but it might not be unconnected with the grading of the community’s traditional stool to a fourth class status.
The state government recently announced the grading of Ganmo monarch, Oba Abdullahi Kolawole. It would be recalled that two ethnic groups- the Igbomina and Afonja descendants of Idi-Ape quarters, Ilorin are claiming ownership of the ancient town.
It was gathered that the grading of Oluganna stool was reportedly condemned by the supporters of rival monarch, OluGanmo of Ganmo.
It was also learnt that the celebrations by the supporters of Oba Kolawole allegedly sparked off the violent clash as the rival group saw it as an act of provocation.
Another account however, attributed the crisis to the reported re-location of the town’s central market to a new site which the people allegedly resisted.
A detachment of mobile policemen was said to have been drafted to the town to restore law and order. As at the time of this report, the spokesman of the state Police command, Olufemi Fabode, DSP could not be reached for confirmation of the incident.
