Offa Partners NDLEA on Security
The Offa Local Government Council has expressed its readiness to partner with the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), in the
quest to quell the incidence of insecurity propelled by the use of drugs.
The was the focus of the Sole Administrator of Offa Local Government Council, Alh. Isiak Abubakar when he received the Kwara state command of the NDLEA, led by the state commander, Mr. Segun Oke at his office last Wednesday.
Abubakar stated that drug is one o the major security challenges facing a stable and peaceful polity, adding that violence and civil dis-order which causes social dis-harmony are all consequences of drug abuse.
He further expressed his optimism in the partnership with the NDLEA, which according to him is a security agency competent to tackle the security challenges and promised the necessary logistic and support to the agency.
He also pledged the co-operation of the local government council in the enlightenment programme to educate the people of the implications inherent in the use of drugs and cultivating same.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the state Commander, Mr. Segun Oke, had commended Abubakar for his warm reception especially for the accessibility in view of the short notice, adding that his mission is to review and strengthen the existing partnership with the agency.
Oke also revealed how government, and the people would further enhance the fight of drugs by identifying where they are, enlightening people, especially the school children and transporters on the dangers of ignorance, revealing that if peace must be secured, people must stay-off drugs.
In the closing presentation, the Director of Personnel Management in Offa Local Government, Alh. Rasak Ayinde promised the cooperation of the council in the quest to achieve relative peace and keep drugs away from the society.
