Church Provides Succour to Night Readers at Unilorin
Whenever exams come calling, students' preparations are always at their peak. At the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, many students are known to read at nights during examination periods. Though the university library has begun its 24-hour service but the library can't take more than its capacity, leaving many students at the mercy of mosquito-ridden lecture rooms.
Then came the Ever Increasing Word Ministries, aka Rhema Chapel International Churches, with its irresistible night class offer as it opened its doors to students to read during the night for the Harmattan semester exams.
All that is required of the student is to register his/her name at the church gate and enter to have a wonderful reading experience in the most conducive environment that is yet to be matched anywhere else.
An entrance into the large expansive fully air- conditioned hall would give the semblance of a lecture hall. Students are seated around tables and are served hot tea every night to keep them warm.
Added to this is the number of mattresses available for those who may like to rest after reading, thereby making night reading irresistible for many students.
Adefemi Odunlade, a 400level student of Agric Economics and also the Coordinator of Rhema Chapel Campus Fellowship (RCCF), spoke to Quadlife on what prompted the gesture.
"The idea is a vision of the founder, Rev George Adegboye, to help others actualise their goals with the knowledge that goals can't be actualised without proper preparation."
This is just one of the expressions of the vision God has given to him. This is the maiden edition of the night class and we hope it would continue. The idea of serving tea and providing beds is just to make students very comfortable."
