Operatives of the Kwara State Police Command have apprehended a 25-year-old man, Salihu Seidu, for the alleged murder of his 65-year-old father-in-law, Alhaji Lawal Umar, inside his tent at a Fulani settlement in Agah Village, Moro Local Government Area of the state.

The victim was discovered dead on October 6, 2026, bearing multiple machete wounds across his body. Following the initial discovery, police personnel visited the crime scene to document evidence before releasing the remains to the victim's eldest son for burial in line with Islamic traditions.

Investigation into the gruesome attack led to the tracking and arrest of Seidu, who is the deceased's son-in-law, at Temidire Fulani Camp on October 9, 2026, following a credible tip-off.

Preliminary police findings revealed that the suspect secretly travelled from his base in Temidire to the deceased's camp under the cover of darkness, infiltrated the victim's tent while the household slept, and inflicted fatal machete strikes on the elder before escaping the scene.

Upon interrogation by homicide detectives, Seidu confessed to committing the act, alleging that his father-in-law was mystically responsible for the sudden death of his young son roughly two weeks prior to the incident.

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed that further investigations are currently underway to ascertain if any accomplices were involved in the premeditated attack, assuring that the suspect will be formally arraigned in court as soon as investigative procedures are concluded.
