The Kwara State Fire Service has contained a fire outbreak at a residential building in the Sabo-Line area of Ilorin, preventing the blaze from spreading to other apartments and nearby properties.

The incident occurred at about 2:07pm on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at No. 40 Ile Idiaro, Sabo-Line, Oke area of Ilorin.

According to the Fire Service, the affected property is a two-storey building comprising about four room-and-parlour self-contained apartments.

Only one room was affected by the fire.

Firefighters quickly mobilised to the scene after receiving a distress call and immediately commenced firefighting operations.

Their prompt intervention brought the fire under control and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the building and adjoining properties.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, as preliminary investigations have yet to determine what triggered the incident.

The Chief Fire Officer of the Kwara State Fire Service, Alabi Muhammed, urged residents to remain vigilant and regularly inspect and maintain electrical installations and appliances in their homes.

He also advised members of the public to report fire incidents immediately, stressing that early intervention remains critical to limiting damage and protecting lives and property.

The Kwara State Fire Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through prompt emergency response and continuous public education on fire safety across the state.
