Kwara South Monarchs Commend AbdulRazaq, Challenge APC Candidates to Do More

Date: 2026-08-03

Traditional rulers in Kwara South Senatorial District have urged candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering quality leadership and surpassing the achievements of the current administration if elected in the 2027 general elections.

The monarchs made the appeal when APC candidates paid a thank-you visit to stakeholders and traditional rulers in the district following the party's recently concluded primaries.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Onipe of Ipe, Oba Mufutau Lawal, commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his developmental strides across the state and expressed optimism that the party's candidates would build on the administration's achievements.

He noted that the people of Kwara South expected the candidates to deliver even greater dividends of democracy if elected.

The traditional rulers also offered prayers for the success of the APC in the 2027 general elections, reaffirming the commitment of the people of Kwara South to the party and pledging their continued support.

Addressing party members and stakeholders during visits to Ilemona, Erin-Ile and Offa, the APC State Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, thanked residents of Oyun and Offa Local Government Areas for their loyalty and support during the party's primaries.

He said their commitment contributed significantly to the successful emergence of APC candidates for various elective offices, including the party's governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi.

Fagbemi noted that while the APC had successfully concluded its candidate selection process, some opposition parties were still struggling with internal disputes over the emergence of their governorship candidates despite the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

"Our purpose in coming here is to appreciate the people of Oyun and Offa Local Government Areas for standing firmly with the APC during the primaries. We value your steadfastness, commitment and loyalty, and we considered it important to personally thank you for your support," he said.

He added that the APC governorship candidate, the Kwara South senatorial candidate, House of Representatives candidates and House of Assembly candidates all participated in the tour to appreciate party faithful and seek the blessings of traditional rulers for peaceful and successful elections.
