The Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) has welcomed the successful rescue of all the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire community, Oyo State, describing the development as a major relief for their families and the nation.

In a statement signed by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the NGF congratulated President Bola Tinubu on the successful rescue, which it said followed months of high-level coordination, intelligence gathering and disciplined execution.

The governors also rejoiced with the families of the victims, noting that the operation had reunited them with their loved ones. The Forum commended the Oyo State Government for its collaboration with the Federal Government, describing the joint effort as instrumental to the success of the operation.

The NGF further praised the professionalism and commitment of the nation's security agencies, expressing confidence that continued multi-agency collaboration would lead to more successful rescue operations and the dismantling of criminal networks.

While sympathising with families affected by kidnapping and other violent crimes, the Forum urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible intelligence to enhance efforts to protect lives and property across the country.
