RATTAWU Kwara Applauds AbdulRazaq Administration for Media Sector Allowance
The Kwara State Council of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU) has commended the Kwara State Government for approving the payment of peculiar allowance to workers of parastatals and the media sector across the state.
In a statement issued by the union leadership and signed by the Chairman, Comrade Usman Oke, and Secretary, Comrade Yusuf Mubaraq, RATTAWU described the approval as a welcome development and a demonstration of the government's commitment to the welfare of workers in the state.
The union expressed appreciation to the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for heeding the yearnings of workers and taking steps towards improving their welfare and working conditions.
RATTAWU, however, appealed to the state government to ensure immediate cash backing and implementation of the approved peculiar allowance to enable affected workers to begin enjoying the benefits without unnecessary delay.
The union also called on the government to urgently facilitate the payment of the 2024 promotion benefits owed to workers, noting that prompt payment would further boost morale and productivity among civil servants in the state media sector.
According to the statement, workers have remained dedicated and committed to their duties despite prevailing economic challenges, adding that they deserve timely payment of all outstanding entitlements.
RATTAWU further urged the government to approve and pay the six months' arrears of the peculiar allowance, stressing that such action would go a long way in alleviating the financial difficulties currently faced by workers.
The union reaffirmed its commitment to supporting policies and programmes that would promote the growth of the media industry and improve the welfare of workers across the state.
