Governor AbdulRazaq Charges Newly Sworn-in NYSC Members on Patriotism and Discipline
The Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has charged newly sworn-in members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to be patriotic, humble, and responsible citizens in line with the scheme's core values.
He gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony for the 2026 Batch "A" Stream II corps members at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Ambassador Ndanusa Shehu, the governor welcomed the corps members to the State of Harmony and urged them to participate fully in all camp activities, including physical training, paramilitary drills, and leadership development sessions.
He advised them to remain humble, exhibit good character, and serve as worthy ambassadors of their families while embracing honesty and hard work as guiding principles.
The Governor further cautioned against distractions, urging the corps members to focus on building leadership qualities embedded in the NYSC programme.
The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Adebara, represented by Justice M.O. Folorunsho, administered the Oath of Allegiance to the corps members.
The Chairman of the Kwara State NYSC Governing Board and Commissioner for Youth Development, represented by the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Mrs Okanla Atinuke, appreciated the governor for his continued support for the scheme. She encouraged the corps members to serve selflessly and contribute meaningfully to the development of their host communities.
She also commended camp officials for their dedication to the safety and well-being of the corps members and urged participants to remain diligent throughout the orientation period.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Onifade Joshua, thanked the governor for providing the temporary orientation camp while development continued at the permanent site in Yikpata. He noted that a range of educational and recreational activities had been arranged for the corps members and urged strict adherence to camp rules.
Dignitaries at the event included the Senior Special Assistant on Youth Engagement for Kwara Central, Adebayo Kamaldeen; representative of the Brigade Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Major Ebalu; State Commander of Man 'O' War, COMDR Hussein Abdullahi; representative of the Controller of Correctional Service, Raji Abdulhamid; representative of the Commissioner of Police, ASP Victor Atuka; Camp Director for the 2026 Batch A Stream II Orientation Course, Mrs Roseline Obayelu; directors from the Ministry of Youth Development; and other guests.
