Central Bank Donates FM-200 Fire Suppression System to Kwara Federal Fire Service
The Central Bank of Nigeria has donated an FM-200 fire suppression system to the Federal Fire Service, Kwara State Command, to strengthen emergency response capacity and protect critical infrastructure across the state.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Command's Public Relations Officer, Modibbo Ibrahim, who noted that the gesture highlights deepening collaboration among key public institutions to enhance public safety.
The equipment was formally handed over during an official visit by the State Controller of the Federal Fire Service in Kwara, ACF Bakare Mary, to the CBN Kwara State Branch, where she led a delegation of senior officers.
During the reception, the CBN Branch Management, led by Branch Manager, Mr. Aliyu Muhammed Manga, described the donation as a clear demonstration of the bank's commitment to supporting the operational effectiveness of the fire service.
"The donation of the FM-200 fire suppression system reflects the Bank's commitment to strengthening operational support to the Federal Fire Service and enhancing effective service delivery in the protection of lives and property," Manga said.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Jaji Abdulganiyu, the State Controller commended the initiative, describing it as timely and strategic in boosting emergency response efforts in Kwara State.
"This gesture is a significant contribution to public safety and emergency response management, and it will greatly enhance our operational efficiency," Bakare said.
The event concluded with the formal handover of the system, symbolising another milestone in inter-agency cooperation geared towards disaster risk reduction and improved service delivery.
The FM-200 fire suppression system is a clean-agent fire-protection technology that rapidly extinguishes fires without damaging sensitive equipment or leaving any residue, making it particularly suitable for high-value and technology-driven environments.
Commonly deployed in facilities such as data centres, control rooms, and financial institutions, the system works by releasing a colourless and odourless gas that suppresses fire within seconds, thereby minimising damage, reducing downtime, and significantly enhancing the operational capacity of fire response agencies.
