The wife of the Kwara State Governor, Professor Olufolake Abdulrazaq, visited the old Ilorin Custodial Centre at Okekura and the new Custodial Centre at Mandala yesterday to present welfare items to inmates. The gesture was performed ahead of the Christmas and New Year festivities to ease the stay of the inmates and remind them that they have not been forgotten.

Accompanied by the Commissioner for Social Development, Dr Nnafatima Imam, the First Lady urged the inmates to remain hopeful and embrace positive change. She assured them that their current circumstances do not define their future and emphasised the importance of moral reformation, vocational engagement, and education as essential pathways to personal development and successful reintegration into society.

In his remarks, the state controller of corrections, Tolorunshagba Emmanuel, expressed gratitude to the first lady on behalf of the Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche.

He said, "Mrs Abdulrazaq's visit reminds us that we are not forgotten and gives hope for a brighter future. We appreciate her commitment to the Service, especially in the provision of the solar borehole we are enjoying in the Old Ilorin Custodial Centre in Okekura and other assistance she has been rendering to the Service."
