UNICEF Commends Kwara for Exceeding Nigeria Learning Passport Target by Over 280%
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has formally commended the Kwara State Government for its exceptional progress in digital and blended learning, describing the state's achievements as a model of visionary leadership and effective policy direction.
In a letter addressed to the Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON, the agency praised the state for surpassing its digital learning target under the Nigeria Learning Passport (NLP), an innovation launched in 2024. Exceeding Targets
UNICEF disclosed that Kwara had reached more than 55,900 learners on the platform. This figure represents over 280 per cent of the original target of 20,000 learners set for the end of 2025.
The organisation attributed this accomplishment to the commitment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, whose policies on education technology and human capital development have repositioned Kwara as a national leader in digital learning.
Chief of Field Office, UNICEF Kaduna, Dr. Gerida Birukila, described the feat as "remarkable," reaffirming UNICEF's readiness to strengthen its partnership with the state government as Kwara continues to scale digital education opportunities for all children. Policy Effectiveness
The ministry, through the Honourable Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, welcomed the commendation, describing it as further proof of the effectiveness of Governor AbdulRazaq's education reforms.
UNICEF lauded the governor for providing resources, technical support, and the enabling environment required to drive the digital transformation agenda across public schools in the state.
