Kwara Ministry of Justice Generates N745 Million from Legal Drafting and Vetting
The Kwara State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman, has announced that the ministry generated N745,048,000 from legal drafting and vetting of over 100 agreements in the last six months.
Sulyman made this disclosure on Tuesday during the third quarter ministerial press briefing held in Ilorin, which focused on the ministry's activities between April and September 2025.
He described the Ministry of Justice as a service-oriented institution dedicated to prosecuting criminal cases, defending the state in court, preparing and vetting legal documents, and providing professional legal advice to government ministries, departments, and agencies.
The Attorney General reaffirmed the state government's commitment to upholding justice, promoting good governance, and ensuring equal access to legal services for all residents.
"Part of the ministry's achievements in the period under review is the legal drafting, preparation, and vetting of over 100 agreements and bills, generating a total revenue of N745,048,000," he said.
Sulyman noted that the Directorate of Personnel, Finance, and Supply oversaw staff promotions, supplementary budget exercises, and welfare matters, while the Directorate of Planning, Research, and Statistics contributed significantly to budget preparation and data management.
He further stated that the ministry continues to expand access to justice through the Office of the Public Defender and the Citizen Mediation Centre, which provide free legal representation and alternative dispute resolution services for indigent residents.
The commissioner also highlighted the efforts of the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Unit, which offers legal support to survivors of sexual and gender-based violence and has intensified advocacy campaigns in schools and public institutions to promote awareness and prevent abuse.
