Balogun Fulani Youth Condemn Ritual Murder of KWCOED Student; Call for Justice
The Balogun Fulani Constituency Youth Development Association (BFCYDA) has expressed its profound grief and strong condemnation over the brutal murder of Hafsoh Lawal, a final-year student at the Kwara State College of Education (KWCOED), Ilorin, allegedly carried out by Abdulrahman Ballo for ritualistic purposes.
This heinous act represents a grave violation of the moral, cultural, and religious values cherished in Ilorin. Both the principles of Islam and the traditions of the city firmly reject the unjust taking of life. As a community-oriented organisation committed to social responsibility, BFCYDA insists that justice must be served swiftly and comprehensively.
In response to this tragedy, the association plans to launch an enlightenment programme aimed at educating the public about the dangers of such practices. Additionally, it will advocate for disciplinary measures and promote vocational/skills acquisition initiatives to prevent future occurrences and foster a safer society.
While speaking, the Association's President, Com. Hassan Taiye Erubu commended the Nigeria Police Force for their swift action in apprehending the culprit and ensuring a comprehensive investigation of the matter. Furthermore, he urges the Nigeria Judiciary to uphold the rule of law by guaranteeing that the perpetrator faces appropriate legal consequences without delay or compromise. He continued, "The safety of our youth and the sanctity of life must remain paramount."
"On behalf of the entire Balogun Fulani community, we extends our sincere condolences to the families and friends of Miss Hafsoh Lawal. Thus, the incident is described as an unspeakable loss, and we share in their profound grief.
"We pray that Almighty Allah forgives her transgressions, grants her a place among the righteous in Janatul Fir'daus, and provides her family with the strength and patience necessary to endure this irreparable tragedy." The statement prayed.
In light of the increasing concerns regarding the youth involvements in crime and social vices, the Balogun Fulani Youth will lunch a implementational and proactive measures aiming in curtailing the recurrence of such tragic incidents via, Sensitization Program for the Young Islamic Students, and Scholars on the needs to be more productive, and acquires vocational skills, rather than being idle. Also, this will mentor them on moral responsibilities, and the consequences of criminal actions. Hence, this will guide them toward a righteous and productive future. Similarly, the program will addresses the dangers posed by negative peer pressure, substance abuse, and radical influences that may lead young people to engage in criminal activities.
Our group has strongly frown at the rate, in which the highest numbers of our young religious scholars (Alfas) do not possess sustainable skills to support themselves, rendering them susceptible to manipulation, fraud and criminal influences. And, it our believes that, extension of our vocational training programs will equips them and the in incoming generation on self-reliance and contribute positively to the society.
In the same vein, the group has also drawn serious measures that'll lunch decpline. We therefore call upon all our stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, governmental authorities, community elders, and well-meaning individuals, to support this significant cause.
Together, we can restore moral values, empower our youth, and create a safer, more progressive society for all. We remain steadfast in our commitment against violence and criminality and will not cease our efforts until justice is served and meaningful reforms are enacted.
