Kwara PDP to ACN: You are Ignorant

Date: 2013-01-31

The Kwara State chapter of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) has disclosed that its attention has been drawn to the purported claim of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state, that employment letters for indigenes of Alanamu were distributed in the private residence of the distinguished Senator, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Kwara State PDP, Alhaji Mas'ud Adebimpe yesterday said: "The party would have ignored the claim as it shows the high level of Ignorance and low level of knowledge of understanding of a party that has paraded itself as progressive.

"But to correct the erroneous impression such comments would have created in the mind of the unsuspecting public, the response became imperative. ACN, who had always claimed that the PDP government doesn't provide employment to Kwarans, was now in its own statement, contradicting itself that the PDP government has provided employment for as much as 30 unemployed youths in a ward; which is just one out of many others provided across the state."

The employment letter of the job provided, the party's spokesperson maintained that, "The ignorant ACN should be educated to know that these were not distributed in the residence of the distinguished Senator, but the beneficiaries received their letters of employment at the PDP Secretariat in Alanamu Ward from their leader,s who had gone to retrieve that of Alanamu indigenes who were among those offered jobs by the KWASUBEB.

"Also, since ACN was ignorant to know that Senator Bukola Saraki, apart from being the political leader of the state, is also  representing Kwara Central Senatorial  district in the Upper Chambers of the National Assembly in which Alanamu Ward is an integral part, has  the constitutional right as a Senator  to seek employment opportunity  for his people wherever its available."

Adebimpe, in his reactions to ACN allegations on Saraki, maintained that, "As a senator, it was part of his responsibility to seek and get where the opportunity for job and employment abound for the people of the state and of course, the people he is representing. This is what he has been doing perfectly well since been elected into the National Assembly, in which the so called ACN are also beneficiaries.

"However, we are not surprised by ACN's comments on the employment provided. It would be recalled that the same ACN had canvassed for the retrenchment of workers in the state shortly after the 2013 Budget was presented to the State House of Assembly by the state governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, which the PDP government vehemently rejected."

ACN had earlier alleged that the Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment and Ecology and immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Bukola Saraki had become the Civil Service Commission and was thereby sharing appointment letters at his residence.
