Kwara Governor Saddened by Boat Mishap, Sends Condolences to Kaiama Community
As reported by Kwara State Government Facebook Page, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has expressed shock and sadness over the tragic boat mishap involving at least 200 people from Gwajibo Mudi community in Kaiama Local Government Area. The incident occurred as the boat headed towards Gwajibo village in Niger State for a Maulid Nabbiy celebration.
Local authorities have reported that only 31 people have been rescued so far. In response to this devastating news, the Governor conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Kaiama, Alhaji Omar Mu'azu Shehu, and the people of Gwajibo.
He expressed deep concern for the victims and their families and has directed the Kwara State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to join ongoing rescue and humanitarian efforts.
A high-powered delegation of the state government led by Speaker of the House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu is also visiting Gwajibo today to commiserate with the families of the victims.
