Kwara United FC Unveils 17 New Players Ahead of New League Season
The Management of Kwara United Football Club Ilorin has unveiled seventeen fresh players who will join the eighteen existing ones in preparation for the new league season. The management also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his prompt attention and effective funding of the club, according to news gathered by Punch.
The new top players were recruited from big clubs such as Rangers United FC and Plateau United to make a maximum impact in the new league season.
Some of the 17 players joining the Harmony Boys, as Kwara United is fondly called, include Ifeanyi Ogba, a former Rangers International mobile attacker, Ayeleso Suraj, a seasoned NPFL goalkeeper from Plateau United, and Akanni Akeem from Sporting Lagos.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held at the multimillion-naira Sugar Film Factory in Ilorin, Bashir Badawiy, General Manager of Kwara United, said that the recruitment process was painstaking.
“We undertook tours in Ikenne in Ogun, Lagos and Bayelsa states just so that we could pick the right blend of players for the season.
“As you have seen from the players, we have the right blend of ages, parading young and experienced footballers,” Badawiy said.
He also said that the Technical Crew have been granted complete autonomy to operate and make player selections based on fitness, quality and dedication.
Reeling out match data and statistics of the tour and invitational tourneys played in the three states, he said that Kwara FC still remains a formidable team to beat.
“We hardly concede goals. We have beaten top-rated clubs including Al Merikkh of Sudan, a continental giant.
“We still have days to spare in our training schedule and I can assure you that the boys will be ready to fire on all cylinders as soon as the league commences,” he added.
He also emphasized that the management of the club is open to criticism in order to enhance the club's optimum performance.
Badawiy further explained that the club's Management has instilled a “win every match” mentality in the players, regardless of whether they are playing at home or away.
While advocating for a better training pitch for the club, he revealed that the team's ultimate target for the next season is the continental.
Mall. Badawiy also showered accolades on Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his expeditious allocation of funds for the club's initiatives and operations.
