Lagos, Kwara, and Ogun Lead in National Table Tennis Championships
According to a news report from Daily Trust, Team Lagos, Kwara, and Ogun are currently dominating the medal table in the ongoing National Table Tennis Championships held in Osun State.
Organized by the Osun State Table Tennis Association (OSTTA), with support from the Michael and Felicia Alabi Memorial Foundation and Canada-based Jodal Health Care, the tournament has attracted participation from 28 states.
Following several events, including mixed doubles, para in standing and sitting, and deaf competitions, Team Lagos, Kwara, and Ogun have secured two gold medals each, with Ondo trailing closely in fourth place with one gold.
Today's fixtures in the singles event promise intense battles for podium finishes, with top seeds like Akinwale Fagbamila of Ondo and Bisola Asaju of Rivers set to showcase their skills.
Expressing his determination, Fagbamila stated, “There is no doubt that this tournament has continued to improve every year with new players coming on board. But nothing can stop me from clinching the gold medal for my state because I have trained well and I will put all my hard work to action when the matches begin,” he said.
This tournament holds significance as a ranking event by the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), with results contributing to the national ranking for 2024.
