A traditional ruler in Kwara State, the Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba AbdulGaniyu Ajibola Olusokun II, has called for a re-orientation among Nigerians on the nation's value system so as to overcome the problems confronting the country.

He said the re-orientation of the country's value system would allow Nigerians to be closer to God.

Oba Olusokun said this would also help them in shunning all negative tendencies that could retard the progress of the country.

The traditional ruler attributed the problem of insecurity, corruption and other social vices in the country to lack of fear of God among some Nigerians.

He advised those perpetrating evil in the country to have a change of heart for the nation to achieve more development.

"There is no alternative to closeness to God. Nigerians should intensify more on prayers as we commence another year. We should love one another so that peace will continue to reign," the traditional ruler said.

He called on those in positions of authority to always make the well-being of their followers their priority instead of acquiring wealth for themselves.

Oba Olusokun also advised the followers to always pray for the success of their leaders so that more achievements could be recorded.

He also prayed for unity, peace, love and prosperity to continue to reign in all parts of the country.
