Kwara vigilantes comb bushes for abducted woman, three children
Six days after the abduction of a woman and her three children in Ajilete, Agunji district of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, the victims have yet to regain freedom.
The victims whose identities have not been ascertained were kidnapped from their house at Ajilete on Sunday night around 8pm at Ajilete when they were preparing to retire to bed.
The kidnappers reportedly stormed the community, shooting indiscriminately before they abducted the victims inside their residence and marched them into the forest.
The abductors had, however, contacted the family of the victims, demanding for N100m ransom.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro in a telephone conversation on Thursday, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Council, Olajide Asonibare, said that negotiation with the suspected kidnappers was still on as of Wednesday night.
Asonibare, who said that the kidnappers had agreed to bring down the amount, added that they had yet to agree on the amount.
“We have already informed the police and army in Kwara and Kogi states. Our vigilante men are still combing the bushes, but there is no headway yet.
“The vigilante group have yet to locate the kidnappers. They keep changing their location and moving from one place to another, but they have agreed to reduce the ransom. They have not given us the specific amount as of today,” he said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, promised to give our correspondent an update on security agencies' efforts to rescue the victims but had not responded as at the time of filing this report.
