2 Remanded For Stealing Pots In Kwara

A magistrates' court sitting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, has remanded one Abubakar Isiaq and Kareem Ibrahim over the alleged theft of cooking pots and other items.

They were arraigned by the NSCDC on a four-count charge of criminal conspiracy, trespass, housebreaking and receiving stolen property.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant, Abdullahi Mariam of Egbejila Road, Ilorin, reported that 'some thieves entered their compound and carted away their property.

“Items stolen include a “big generator, four big cooking pots, four big coolers, one Bajaj motorcycle and two Android phones.

“Investigations revealed that Abukakar, who is a friend of Ibrahim, sold the phone to him, which was tracked by the NSCDC that led to the arrest,” the charge sheet added.

The NSCDC prosecutor, Stephen Tsado, urged the court to remand the suspects against the plea of the defence counsel, Toyin Onaolapo.

In his ruling, Magistrate Kolawole Aluko ordered the remand of the suspects and adjourned the case till May 11, 2023.
