Date: 2021-09-08

Management of the Kwara State College of Education, Oro has concluded arrangements to organise a free medical programme as part of activities for its Health Week.

Among the programmes lined up for Health Week is, a medical check-up for all college staff, students and members of the host community.

The medical checkup is scheduled to hold between Monday and Friday at the new Twins Theatre complex in the college premises.

In a statement from the College Registrar's office, the checkup exercise would focus on health issues such as Health Education, Blood Sugar Test, Weighing, Malaria tests, and Blood Pressure (BP) check-ups.

"The exercise commences with the college students, to be followed by teaching and non-teaching staff, while the temporary staff of the college would be attended to on the third day. The checkup exercise of the inhabitants of the host community comes up, on Thursday."

Speaking on the programme, the Provost, Professor Mukaila Aremu, said the exercise is free for all categories of people, adding that it is purposely put in place to support the health of the employees and people of the host community.

"Health is wealth, no doubt about that. It is only a healthy employee that can be productive, hence the employer must show concern for the health of the staff. "The host community is included as a beneficiary because it is equally a form of corporate social responsibility. It is our own way of giving back to society," he said.
