The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU),Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman, fsi,has congratulated four indigenes of Ilorin Emirate whose promotions to the rank of Professor by the authorities of the Kwara State University, Malete,was made public earlier today.

In a statement signed on his behalf by the Union's National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Imam, the National President said that the Union received the promotion of Drs. Binta Sulyman, Sanni Mubarak, AbdulSami Imam Arikewuyo and Ibrahim Laaro Abubakar to the pinnacle of their careers with utmost pleasure and appreciation to the Almighty Allah.

The statement said that the Union was particularly excited with the elevation of Dr Sulyman to the exalted rank as the first Ilorin daughter to attain the rank at the institution, saying that her promotion would certainly encourage more of our women working at the institution and elsewhere to pursue excellence in their chosen careers notwithstanding other competing responsibilities.

Alhaji Uthman commended the authorities of the Kwara State University, most especially its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Muhammad Mustapha Akanbi,SAN, for rewarding intellectual productivity and professional excellence through the elevation of those distinguished scholars.

The Union said that the development is a confirmation that the Ilorin Emirate community is gradually climbing the ladder in the realm of teaching at the highest level of the nation's educational system.

Alhaji Uthman while congratulating the new Professors urged them to justify their new status by not relenting in their efforts at contributing more to the building of knowledge and providing solutions to contemporary challenges. He also urged them to ensure that they used their new positions to mentor younger colleagues, saying that that is the one of the surest ways their impacts could be further felt.
