Ahmed tells participants not to see National Sports Festival as do-or-die

Date: 2012-10-21

The Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has advised participants at the forthcoming National Sports Festival in Lagos State to see the games as a platform for strengthening love and not a win-medals-at-all-cost competition.

Governor Ahmed made the call on Sunday in Ilorin while receiving the Torch of Unity of the National Sports Festival. He noted that the games "represent a credible basis for interaction, strengthening friendship and unity among Nigerians".

The Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, said the touch of Unity was symbolic of the drive for national unity. He added that it marks the commencement of National Sports Festival.

Governor Ahmed assured Team Kwara of government's support in order to ensure the team's success at the Festival.

The captain of Team Kwara, Issa Abdulrahman, in his remarks, assured the Government and people of Kwara State that the team would excel at the games. He commended the Kwara State Government for providing the wherewithal for the team to excel at the Sports Fiesta.
