NJC Recommends Appointment Of 22 Judges Of Supreme Court, Others

The National Judicial Council has recommended the appointment of 22 judicial officers of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Heads of Court, Judges of High Court of States, Kadis of States Sharia Courts of Appeal and Judges of Customary Courts of Appeal.

NJC spokesman, Soji Oye, in a statement on Thursday, said the council also received retirement notices from 13 judges and deaths of six judges of state high courts and the Sharia Court of Appeal.

Oye said it was part of decisions at the virtual meeting of the Council presided by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad.

He said the NJC dismissed a petition written against the Chief Judge of Kwara State, Justice Sulyman Kawu for been frivolous, baseless and unmeritorious.

The NJC also dismissed petitions against the Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Ayodele Daramola, and Justices I. N. Oweibo, Hadiza R. Shagari, Ijeoma Ojukwu, and Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa, all of the Federal High Court.
