Unemployment: IEYDA empowers aged women, widows, artisans and students

The Director, Center for Community Development, Kwara State University, Malete, Mr Lawal Olohungbebe has called on Nigerians to think out of the box on ways to boost our economy and revitalize our system.

Mr Olohungbebe made the call at the sixth Annual Empowerment programme of the Ilorin Emirate Youths Development Association, held on Saturday 11th January, 2020 at Nimatoni event centre, Ilorin.

He emphasised on areas such as Information Communication Technology, Mining, Agriculture, Oil and Gas.

The Don appreciated the Ilorin Emirate Youths Development Association for their initiative to complement government's efforts on reducing  unemployment in the society, urging them to extend it to  the healthcare delivery sector in rural areas.

In his speech, the Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Shehu Abdulgafar said the Association has missions and visions to promote unity and onenes in the Emirate

Alhaji Abdulgafar, who was represented by Alhaji Shehu Magaji stressed that unity and onenes remains the best way to move the country forward, adding that the emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has always preached at any given times.

  The National President of the Association, Alhaji Abdullahi Babatunde Salaudeen said the empowerment is specially designed and targeted towards uplifting and empowering the people of the Ilorin Emirate in order to reduce the level of poverty in the state.

Also speaking, the National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammed Uthman Jagunma said the Association had impacted positively on the lives of thousands of people within and outside Ilorin Emirate.

Items worth over one million naira were distributed to the beneficiaries across the five local governments representing Ilorin Emirate to boost their business and reduce the unemployment rate in the society.
