FG Moves to Dualise Ilorin-Mokwa Road
The Federal Government has indicated its intention to dualise the Ilorin, Mokwa, Kontangora, Kaduna and other roads in the country in the shortest time possible and assured that it would deliver a good road service.
To this end, the Minister of State for Works, Bashiru Yuguda, has assured that they were ready to collaborate with a group of Indian entrepreneurs, Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL and FS) Transportation Network Limited of India in a Public Private Partnership (PPP).
Receiving a delegation from the IL and FS Transportation Network Limited in India, Yuguda assured that they were ready to collaborate with the company on these vital roads which he estimated at about 500 kilometres, saying the measure was part of the government’s policy to attract foreign investors.
He advised the firm to come up with a detailed plan of the areas they were interested in investing.
"We are looking forward for your basic proposal," noting that the minister of works, Mike Onelomemen had already travelled to India to inspect some of the projects made by the company and that he was satisfied with the projects.
He added: "We have succeeded in dualizing some major roads linking from Lagos to Ibadan which is the commercial heart from Abuja and also from the North and the West through the Public Private Partnership (PPP)".
He said the move was part of the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan agenda to ensure transparency among these companies.
The leader of the delegation, Ravi Sreehari, said that the IL and FS was a premier financial service firm serving an outstanding array of clients in the private, public and joint sectors, delivering innovative and practical solutions in the areas of infrastructure and financial services.
He described the company as an independent professional institution with its own cadre of personnel and distinctive business practices.
