Kwara Assembly passes N156bn Revised budget

The Kwara State House of Assembly has passed the 2018 Revised Appropriate Bill of N156,043,339,799 into law.

This followed the consideration of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation by the House.

The new N156bn revised budget is a decrease of N34,954,085,772 against N190.9bn earlier passed by the House representing 18.3 percent.

The new Recurrent Expenditure is now N78,339,398,906 against N80,308,252,137 in the original budget.

The new approved revised estimate is reduced by N1,968,853,231 representing 2.45 percent.

The Capital Expenditure in the Revised Budget is N77,703,940,893 against N110,689,173,434.

The Capital Expenditure is scaled down by N32,985,231,541 representing 2.9 percent.

The Deputy Speaker, Chief Mathew Okedare, who presided over the Wednesday's sitting while praising members and the committee for carrying out a thorough assignment on the revised budget, directed the Clerk of the House, Hajia Halimat Jummai Kperogi, to read the bill for the third time and prepare clean copy for Governor's accent.

Meanwhile, the State House of Assembly, urged the State Health Insurance Agency, to facilitate registration of enrollees across the 193 wards in the state to increase peoples' access to qualitative healthcare delivery.

This is part of the resolutions of the House, following a Matter of General Public Importance, raised by member representing Oke-Ero Constituency. Hon. Victoria Bunmi Afolayan.

The Deputy Speaker, while reading the resolutions of the House, enjoined the agency to place jingles in the media and embark on advocacy across the state to sensitise people to register for the scheme.

The House also commended the state Governor, Alhaji AbdulFatah Ahmed for the State Health Insurance Scheme Law and for constituting its Board and Agency.

It equally eulogised the agency on the technical assignment carried out to fast track the take off of the operation of the agency in the state.
