Kwara Spends N1.1bn on Health Insurance

Kwara State govern­ment has spent N1.1bil­lion to­wards fund­ing the im­ple­men­ta­tion of com­mu­nity health in­surance scheme to the low in­come ru­ral dwellers in the state.

Un­der the scheme, the govern­ment also, said that, about 139,174 per­sons who were low in­come earn­ers have so far en­rolled in the eleven lo­cal govern­ment coun­cils as at the end of 2016.The scheme started in 2007 un­der for­mer gov­er­nor Bu kola Sara ki at Sh on gain E du lo­cal govern­ment council of the state and other two lo­cal gov­ern­ments of As a and Ilor­inWest.

The present ad­min­is­tra­tion in the state un­der Al­haji Ab­dul­fa­tah Ahmed has de­cided to en­sure the ex­ten­sion of the scheme to all other lo­cal govern­ment coun­cils so as to make it a uni­ver­sal scheme for the peo­ple of the state.

The gov­er­nor dis­closed this in Ilorin on Fri­day dur­ing the of­fi­ -cial launch of uni­ver­sal com­mu­nity health in­surance scheme to all the peo­ple of the state.
