Residents of Alagbede community of Offa Garage in llorin have appealed to the Kwara State Government to provide the area with pipe-borne in order to arrest the growing scarcity of water in the area.

In an exclusive interview with City Rove on Saturday, the people of the community expressed grave concern over the unavailability of portable water in the area.

A Community Leader, Mr. Seyi Ogunyemi said several appeals made to relevant authorities had yielded no positive outcome and called on the government to urgently come to the rescue of the people of the area.

He also stated that the people had intensified communal efforts but to no avail.

However, City Rove findings showed that the people had resorted into buying water from some vendors in the area, following the unavailability of drinkable.

Our Correspondent gathered that a small bucket of tap water goes for N20 while the bigger size attracts N30, as people had to queue patiently before being attended to by water vendors. A water vendor Mrs. Folake Omowumi Adeniyi, who spoke with City Rove, ascribed the upsurge in the price of water to the outrageous amount charge them by tanker drivers, saying that they are not charging people unfairly.
